from 48 reviewsMy 7 year old granddaughter thinks this is the best Christmas gift she got this year. It’s makes me and her grandma very happy that it is so safe.
My family and I think that calling chompsaw a toy is an understatement, this kid safe power tool has helped our daughter build her ideas with ease and confidence. Ever since we got her the chompsaw her interest in engineering has gotten more, the Inventors workbook and the table accessories set had helped her a lot and she learned so much critical thinking, problem solving, manage failures, patience, and prototyping ideas.
We love seeing her working in her workshop for hours and come out with a huge smile and confidence on her face because she brought her ideas to life.
For us this is absolutely the best way and the most fun way to learn about science and math.
If there is any changes that I would like ChompShop team to change that will be the cutter to be adjustable for different cardboard thickness. Other than that we absolutely love this power tool, the Inventor’s workbook, and the accessories.
This was a Christmas present for our 5 year old granddaughter. She took right to it, and she LOVES making things — even just cutting random shapes is fun. Here she is with her pink bunny rabbit hearing protection.
One thing it needs is a non-slip bottom. Here you see the wood frame that my son set up o hold the ChompSaw in place.
I couldn't be more excited about this product! Yesterday I introduced it to my after school 5th graders and it was amazing to watch them quickly imagine possibilities and refine their skill. I witnessed them "thinking with the unit" as new ideas came to mind. They constantly experimented and made decisions about the best way to achieve their intended result. I could almost see their conceptual gears turning. Thank you Chompshop!
The chomp saw had easy to follow set-up instructions for the adults, an intuitive design that my friend's kid was able to understand quickly, and lots of great resources in the project booklet. I loved how the booklet not only had drafting pages and some example projects, but that it also helped explain the concepts of drafting 3D objects on paper and other useful engineering concepts for the kids to easily understand.
My friend's kid has been nonstop working with their chomp saw ever since they opened it and has been super excited to show each creation they've made so far. Overall, an amazing and educationally beneficial item!
Shark Tank showcased this incredible, creative tool to keep kids creative. As a grandmother, screen time is concerning. The kids were engaged for hours and hours and they put on their creative caps.
My 8yr old loves it and so do I! I absolutely recommend it. We build together as a great bonding activity, but he can also build on his own and whatever his creative mind dreams up like his own tool belt. Clearly the first thing to make :) The only nit-pick I have is the majority of the cardboard we receive from amazon and other online retailers is just barely thick enough to make it tough for kids to push through the gap between the table and the metal guard. Thinner cardboard like the box it comes in goes through like butter. We use the wooden knife that you can purchase to score the cardboard first which makes it much easier to cut but adds more time to the process. That extra friction of the thicker cardboard also causes the ChompSaw to slide, so we also use a grip sheet to hold the saw in place. If they made that clearance under the metal guard more adjustable, it would be an easy 5 stars, no question, because it's so simple to use and clean up. But I cab also appreciate that they may need to keep it that height for safety which is the whole reason I bought it in the first place. It would be great if the scoring tool was included in every kit. Considering there is nothing else like this out there that is so safe and well-built, it is easy to recommend this. The additional table kit makes it simple to create consistent pieces to put together.
Best gift ever for our little creative genius's. They’ve already advanced from simple cuts to making things. Great use of all that holiday cardboard!
Both of my boys (9 and 6) love this machine and made some fun Christmas decorations out of cereal boxes. We've added this to our makerspace alongside the 3D printer and their lego workshop. Great product!
We Kickstarted this project excited about the prospect of giving our daughter another method of crafting along with an introduction to power tools. After opening it up and going over it with her, I was very impressed with the level of thought, detail and purpose of every design decision. Even receiving the updates along the way during production, looking at it gives an appreciation for how much went into making this a perfect starter for kids. With all the safety features I feel comfortable letting my kid use it independently and allowing me to supervise "hands off". I recommend ChompSaw and the fence accessory set and know this is going to be a staple in our household.
Our students learned about construction and were able to build their own city. They were very engaged with cutting out pieces to add to their creation.
This is hands down one of the best items we have purchased. It's simple enough to use that children of all ages can succeed. The option to grow with your ideas makes this a forever toy for the whole family. I am so excited to create with our child. Thank you for making this possible.
