Earth Day Planter Project

Happy Earth Day! đ
We're big believers in reducing waste by using what we already have on hand for creative projects... SO this Earth Day, we're sharing a super cute, super functional project pattern: a cardboard planter that's good for your garden! đ»
Make Your Own Cardboard Planter
Cardboard is compostable, which means it breaks down naturally as your plant grows roots and can even feed your soil! As your cardboard breaks down it will help keep your seeds safe and attract earthworms, which promote soil aeration and healthy nutrients for happy plants! đ± đ
What Youâll Need:
-
-
A solid piece of cardboard (under 3mm thick)
-
Our Earth Day Planter Pattern (PDF download here)
-
Glue or tape
-
A ChompSaw (for cutting)
-
A Scoring Tool (for creating folds)
-
A Hole Punch (for drainage)
-
Soil and seeds
-
Steps:
-
Find Your Cardboard:
Choose a strong, clean piece of cardboard that is thick enough to hold soil, but flexible enough to fold. -
Print and Attach the Pattern:
Print out your planter pattern. Cut roughly around it, leaving some white space. Tape or glue it face-up onto your cardboard. -
Cut It Out:
Use your ChompSaw to follow the black lines and carefully cut out the shape. -
Score the Fold Lines:
Use your scoring tool to lightly score along the dotted lines. -
Fold and Form Your Pot:
Fold along the scored lines and assemble the shape of your pot. -
Plant It!
Add soil, drop in your seeds, water well, and then plant the entire pot directly into the ground. Itâll break down over time and help your plant grow! đż
Whether you're using this for classroom activities, spring planting, or just a weekend craft, itâs a great way to celebrate Earth Day by rethinking what we throw away.
